Visit to China's Largest Airplane Manufacturer COMAC

May 30, 2019 - Today, we had a glimpse into COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China), the country's largest aerospace manufacturer together with 22 colleagues of the S&T Diplomatic Circle from total 19 countries. COMAC's mission is to produce indigenous designed civil aircrafts while moving up the manufacturing value chain, thus nearing to gap to Airbus or Boeing. There are currently three types of planes in the pipeline: The short-medium range ARJ21 (first regional aircraft independently developed by China and certified), the mid-range C919 with 160 seats for 5000km and the long-range CR929 with 280 seat for 12'000km. COMAC collaborates with various international partners, including a completion center with Boeing. Today's visit included COMAC's engineering center and head-quarters in Shanghai. Thank you to our hosts Guang ZHAO, Alan Wang and their excellent team at COMAC to receive the S&T Diplomatic Circle. The visit was very nicely organized by our Austrian colleagues Christina Schoesser, Lisa Kronreif and Hao Luo in collaboration with COMAC.
